What it does

Nearly four million people across the UK now suffer from diabetes and 90 per cent of cases are Type 2 which can increase the risks of getting serious eye, heart and nerve problems.

Genetics and lifestyle – particularly being inactive and overweight – are among the chief causes of Type 2 diabetes but the good news is that with the right treatment and care, the effects of diabetes can be managed or reversed.

Through this Community Programme, Royds is supporting local GPs and patients in tackling and managing Type 2 diabetes. Patients who need additional help to manage their diabetes can be referred to us by their GPs. With our support, either in the surgery or a community setting, patients are able to reduce their need to seek regular medical assistance.
