Government visit to Royds

Melanie Dawes

Melanie Dawes, Permanent Secretary, Department for Communities and Local Government, visited Royds on Thursday 6th April to look at how Royds acts as a community anchor for our local area through the success of Royds Enterprise Park which has consistently enjoyed 100% occupancy over the last few years.

Royds tenants Eddie Caffrey of James Mae Project Ltd and Michael Pensevale of Ritebike Ltd also met Melanie and told her all about their successful businesses. Both are local born businessmen originally from local council estates, who now employ scores of staff and have turnover in the £millions. They both felt that Royds as an organisation has been very supportive and that we have contributed to their success.

We are hoping Melanie will be able to take this information back to London to show that Bradford has many positive aspects and that the Royds model could be used in other places to help local areas in terms of employment and community support and regeneration.
