Royds Launch Youth Environmental Programme

23 February 2011

Royds have successfully been awarded a grant from Incommunities (as part of their Foundation Fund) to provide a staffed youth environmental programme (YEP) to support and develop a local volunteer group. This will provide a solution to a number of issues in Delph Hill and Wyke.

The YEP will develop a range of positive activities for young people living in and around the estate that are practical and engaging. in an area where few local facilities are available, the young people themselves will play a key role in deciding the activities to develop.

The programme will play a key role in combating anti-social behaviour by providing engaging experiences as an alternative to ‘having nothing to do’. The programme will also develop particular environment projects of local benefit, which will encourage young people to experience the positive outcomes of getting involved in their community.

Heading up the programme will be former Bradford MBC warden Lucy Parr.

“This Youth Environmental programme is really exciting and will provide young people with something positive to put their efforts into. I am confident that this will be a long and sustainable programme for young people in the Wyke area.”
