Massive Success For Royds Advice Service

28 Mar 2010 - The Royds Advice Service has helped its 500th resident.

2009/10 has been a record breaking year for the Royds Advice Service. In total, 2656 people were helped and over £288,000 worth of debt has been successfully written off. The Service also generated £488,887 for clients in under claimed benefits.

The service, which provides quality assured, free, confidential advice and information for residents in south Bradford was set up in 2004. Established initially to help with personal debt problems, the service now advises on a range of subjects including benefits advice, tax credits, disability benefits, housing problems including rent arrears, and consumer & employment rights.

Sessions are run in a variety of community venues and GP surgeries throughout the area.

Tony Dylak, Chief Executive at Royds said: "The advice that we provide makes a significant difference to people’s wellbeing. For many people, debt and other problems restrict how they live their lives."

"Our expert team are always on hand to help. A problem shared is a problem halved, and with a few phonecalls it can be reduced event further."

The Royds Advice Service is funded by BMDC Community Funding Unit and Bradford and Airedale tPCT.
