Consultation
As a resident led organisation, Royds Community Association has always believed in real consultation. Residents frequently have an insight into problems and potential solutions which professionals do not see quite so easily, simply because they do not live in the area.
Consultation exercises have been used to :
- Explore and agree demolition plans
- Explore and agree timetables for programmed works
- Determine materials to be used in refurbishment of homes and gardens
- Agree the siting of play areas
- Explore options for community and public buildings
- Promote employment and training opportunities
- Promote benefit take up and debt services
- Develop neighbourhood action planning
- Develop master planning and agree proposals for the future
Consultation processes can be led by experienced residents and professionals, or local people can be trained, supported and mentored in consultation.
Community Engagement
Royds Community Association employs a variety of techniques to engage with residents and communities.
These can be summarised as follows :
Mobile Units
RCA has two mobile units which can be used for consultation, small meetings, exhibitions and local group work. These units are highly visible, yellow buses, which will benefit any local initiatives.
Units are available at £300 per day (exclusive of VAT) which includes a driver.
Action Planning
RCA has experienced staff who can lead to action planning processes with small groups, assist in the production of action plans with SMART objectives.
Rates can be negotiated.
Videoing
We have successfully used video techniques to encourage consultants to speak openly and to compile a report on residents needs and aspirations.
Video equipment with an operative can be hired for £350 per day (exclusive of VAT).
Planning for Real
Staff have been trained in techniques to assist residents to understand plans and proposals, including Planning for Real. These methods have been successfully employed to develop environmental programmes, estate layout, and community building design.
Masterplanning Consultancy
Within the Royds Agency is Acanthus WSM architects, who have significant national experience in masterplanning. Together with staff of RCA, we have developed a technique of masterplanning which is both inclusive and live.
We believe a masterplan should be organic, developing as circumstances change, and flexible enough to adapt or incorporate new opportunities. This is achieved by a regular process of consultation, rather than a one off exercise.
Our major success is the award winning Royds programme, but Acanthus WSM also has experience in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Rotherham, Barnsley, and Liverpool.
We can undertake a full masterplanning exercise or assist a local architectural practice in the techniques of inclusivity and engagement.
Recruitment Consultancy
The Royds Agency includes a number of recruitment and human resources partners, and we have successfully recruited staff for a variety of organisations. This includes Chief Executive Officers and Senior Management staff.
We are able to provide assistance with Job Descriptions, Personnel Specifications, job adverts, short-listings, interview questions and selection procedures. We can offer a variety of tests including 16PF.
Inspirational Visits
Royds hosts approximately 200 visits a year from organisations who wish to see what residents can achieve, and what has been proven to work. Visits can be 'hosted' by residents and/or staff as required.
We can also provide staff to visit your area or organisation and provide talks, presentations or advice.
Visits to Royds are charged per head and include lunch. VAT is chargeable.
Visits to your area can also be determined.
